Small things like blocker plates can make a significant security improvement. Full length interlocking astragals have become the de facto standard on most commercial buildings. Better locking hardware can improve security weak points on exterior doors (especially with glass/aluminum doors). Access Control systems make it much easier to manage when and who is allowed in your building.
Door knobs, levers, electric strikes, even panic hardware need to serviced or replaced occasionally. Most commercial buildings in Alberta have narrow style glass/aluminum front doors which often need paddle handles or levers repaired.
Building shift may cause doors to start rubbing on the threshold or frame. Hinge and pivot wear will also contribute to doors rubbing and either failing to close or needing a little shove. When hydraulic door closer seals wear out, they leak oil and start to slam. Break-ins can be repaired with door wrap plates and scar plates. These are issues we deal with on a regular basis.

If you are looking at having access control installed in a condo or apartment building, there are many different kinds of electrified locking hardware. Electric strikes were the standard, but they comprimise locking mechanisms (or in the common vernacular, promote break-ins). On security sensitive exterior doors, we often recommend electrified panic hardware for access control or barrier free systems (feel free to ask why!).
